How matching works
Answer a few questions
The quiz takes about 2 minutes. It asks who the oil is for, how the hair is worn most days, its texture, how the lengths feel, and about the scalp. Each answer changes where the oil goes, which oil it is, or the top on the bottle.
What each answer changes

Adults with defined waves, curls, coils or very dry lengths also see the Pre-Wash Melt, an optional weekly balm. If neither your scalp nor your lengths need an oil, say with a short cut and an untroubled scalp, we say so and match nothing.
One oil or two
Sometimes one oil can’t do both jobs well. Then we match two: one for the scalp and one for the lengths. Your result also shows the other way, one bottle or two, and what changes.
You choose Men’s or Women’s
Men’s, Women’s and Gentle are daily scalp massage oils. When one fits, you choose Men’s or Women’s yourself: the quiz never asks anyone’s sex. Women’s has rosemary and lavender. Men’s has saw palmetto, rosemary and peppermint, and no lavender.
Gentle replaces both for a sensitive scalp and for anyone pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. It has no essential oils and no saw palmetto.
What we never match
- No oil for a child under 3. Please ask a pharmacist or doctor.
- No oil when an answer points to a doctor first, such as round or oval bald patches, a tender or painful crown, or changes that began with cancer treatment or a new medication. The quiz says why and offers nothing to buy.
- No essential oils or saw palmetto for children, a sensitive scalp, or anyone pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. “Prefer not to say” counts as yes.
- No nut oils for children or anyone with a nut allergy.
- No daily scalp oil on a flaky or itchy scalp.
The final say is yours
The quiz suggests; you decide. You can buy any oil from its page. Men’s and Women’s carry a caution beside Add to bag, and again in the bag and the order email, with “Not sure? Take the quiz”. The quiz isn’t medical advice: for anything medical, ask a doctor or pharmacist.
The check before each subscription order
With a subscription, we email you 7 days before each order to ask whether anything has changed, such as a pregnancy, a new medication or a scalp that has become sensitive. We ask the health questions every time, because we never store those answers. If you don’t answer, a Men’s or Women’s order waits, uncharged, until you do; other oils ship as they are. If your answers change the match, we tell you what changed and why, and the new oil ships only once you agree. Changes close 3 days before the order date.
What we keep
We use your health answers, such as pregnancy, the signs that need a doctor and a new medication, to match you, then forget them. Your other answers are kept only if you tick “Save my answers” or save them to your account. If you don’t, they wait with your order for 30 days, so the app can offer to bring them in, then they’re deleted. The privacy policy has the details.
